Citizens standing in line to cast their vote

Earlier in the day, the polls were very crowded as people stood in line to cast their vote in the election. Streets were blocked off at one point in order to allow for the long lines coming out of the polls. Election results for the statewide contests were of great interest as well, with Governor Gray Davis running against his challenger Bill Simon.

Streets blocked for voting

Many people, like Richard Harris, a voter we interviewed after voting, are watching KCAL 9 news to find out the latest results for the election. We will keep you informed as the various races are decided here in Legosville and throughout the state. Early returns are showing Bailey Smith receiving 40% of the vote while Jane S. Wells is receiving 52% of the vote so far. If this trend continues, it looks like Legosville will have a new mayor very shortly.
