The Metroliner was kind of the first nine volt sets that Lego that is kind of unique of these sets. Much more like a European, this design is rectangular and square based. Named from the possibly from the Amtrak rail service, this train based on the British InterCity model and has red, white, and blue lines, and a bar area and sleeping in the back.
When I had purchased this set from Legoland California, the 2001 version offers the same model as Lego did with the same instructions in this set under the legends banner with the different mini fig head studs. The reason why Lego had decided to move away from 4.5 to 12-volt sets is because it was different with metal line to conduct realistically.
This set includes the different tracks as part of the train set, as well as the transformer dial.
